The company Lakis Trapalides & Son was founded in Limassol by the late Ioannis Trapalides in 1945 and its initial preoccupation was retailing kitchenware and wedding gifts. The company was housed in a small shop on Ayias Irini’s St. in Limassol’s centre.
Later and more specifically around 1986, Lakis Trapalides and his wife Ismini Trapalidou, decided to lead the company from retail to wholesale trade, giving exclusive emphasis on professional equipment for hotels, restaurants, tourist apartments, cafes etc. With perseverance and hard work they managed to expand the small business, and at the same time to become exclusive agents and distributors of many famous European brands on the domestic market. They achieved to create a remarkable clientele and distribute their products to every corner of Cyprus.
In 1998, after graduating from a U.S University, their younger son Yiannis Trapalides joined the business, who in his turn brought radical and transformative ideas so a new era came for the business. Together with his father, they led the company to its highest rank of the Cypriot market in its field. Apart from that in 2004, they proceeded to the implementation of a new major project, which was the construction of 10.000 square metres storage space and the creation of 2.000 square metres office and showroom space.
Unfortunately, Lakis Trapalides died unexpectedly at the age of 60, so he didn’t experience the completion of the project. Since then, the reins of the company have been taken over by Yiannis Trapalides who in 2008 completed the works. The works were implemented with great success and it is where all company’s facilities are still housed today.
The new state-of- the art storage and distribution centre and the modern showroom are located in Limassol Ypsonas area, hosting tens of thousands of visitors every year from Cyprus and abroad. The company continues to be family-run and has managed to win the position of the largest distributor of professional equipment in the domestic market. It has the largest customer base, with the widest range of products and lower prices than any other competitor in the market. It is noteworthy to say that, today the company’s products can be found almost in all hotels, restaurants and cafes all over Cyprus.
The company also has a second large showroom in Ayia Napa and experienced sales representatives who are available in all the cities of Cyprus. Moreover, the company owns a large number of privately owned vans for fast delivery of the products to customers in any part of Cyprus. Today, Lakis Trapalides & Son ltd, remains one of the most steadily developing Cypriot companies thanks to the full confidence and dedication it receives from thousands of customers and dozens of suppliers from home and abroad.
